Fun toy for cats, effectiveness to be determined. Speaking of determined, one of my cats did manage to repeatedly take it apart when going after treats, so I needed to glue the top pieces together so he now has to lift off the whole top assembly - not impossible but doesn't happen often.
Very imprecisely cut. Pieces do not fit together. Manufacturer acknowledges this by including a small emery board so you can file the pieces until they do fit together. At this price point that is absurd.
Definitely not worth the $99 price tag. One of the wood pieces was slightly warped and I had to do a little filing to make it fit. In all fairness, the 1 page info sheet that came with the product disclosed that there is the possibility of warping. Beyond that, both of my cats, who love to play, became bored after 5 minutes of initial curiosity wore off. I tried different toys, different treats, and even placed catnip into the thing in an attempt to entice them (1 Bombay, 1 Calico both 2 years old). I'll bet the video showing cats engaged with this thing was shot within 5 minutes of introduction but I could be wrong and that my naturally playful, adventurous, and curious kitties simply didn't get the concept. I should have tried making my own out of an old shoe box
Cats love it immediately- as long as I threw in a couple treats to get them started. Product assembled easily and is of quality materials. The box should come apart easily for cleaning. Worth the money, worth the wait in shipping.
It’s fun for the cats and for humans to watch! it does file down the nails of the front paws (a little). Your cat needs to use it every day for their nails to stay filed though. I would have given 5 stars if I didn’t have to put magnets on it to get it to stay put. Without the magnets my cats managed to disassemble within 5 minutes. The seller was incredible about this. They gave a big discount (directly thru their website) AND they sent us some gifts to make up for the design flaw. Supposedly the next ones will have this mistake taken care of.
My cat at first was very interested in the box and trying to figure out how to reach items. Soon enough she figured out how to knock the top and walls off in order to get inside.
Where has this been all my life? You can tell that so much research, testing, and love of cats went into this invention. I have a large cat who gets very nasty when we try to do her nails, only her groomer can do it. This box is perfect for the time in between grooming appointments when her nails inevitably become little daggers! I add some freeze dried raw chicken treats to it, and it keeps both of my cats occupied for up to an hour. The size is perfect for two cats to use it at once, and the holes fit their paws no problem. I can hear them scratching their nails against the sandpaper to grip their treats, so I can tell (and also see the results) that their nails are actually getting filed! I've tried sandpaper scratching posts and my cats were never interested, so I was so relieved and excited that they love this box so much. Cleaning up the leftover treats is easy with all the parts being removable, I usually just vacuum the crumbs or brush them off. I cannot recommend this enough for all cat owners, even for the enrichment aspect alone! We've had this for two weeks and the cats still purr whenever we add treats to it, they clearly think it's fun, and it helps them sleep better at night. Sometimes I wake up and the ball is out of the box, so they play with it overnight even when we don't add treats! This is worth all the money, I'll absolutely be buying a second box for my third cat and probably more as gifts for cat owner friends. Great product, very sturdy. It fits together very easily but since it is a snap together assembly the cats easily take the lid and sides off. I will try superglue or some small nails to keep it in tact
Awesome product with a few notes... The Awesome - My cats LOVE this. Whether its the ball, a crinkle toy, or treats, they love playing with this. - It does seem to file their claws a bit? I was skeptical but for the front claws (not the dew claw) it seems to be taking the edge off. (Heh) - Build quality is lovely and the product is beautiful. Looks great in any decor. The 'could be better' - The fit between pieces is not snug. I love that its easy to assemble and has no screws but that means that its hard to pick up without it coming apart. I solved this with zip ties around the vertical pieces and adding a bit of electrical tape to the fitted wood parts. (See pic) I would NOT recommend screwing this together just in case your kitty gets over zealous and gets stuck somehow. This solution made it snug without screws. A set of pre-cut stickers could be added to the box as optional if the fit isn't quite right. - Watch my video- my smart lil girl can get the ball out using her claw! I was trying to figure out how it kept coming out so I set it up where I could watch and got it on video! She loves the mini-game of getting the ball out but it takes her all of 30 seconds. Adding a smooth ball that can't be caught by claws would be a simple and inexpensive addition to the box. Overall I love this. Could be a bit better but I love supporting a creative entrepreneur with a soft spot for animals. Can't wait to see what you make next!
The pieces don't fit snugly at all and the box immediately falls apart, defeating the entire purpose. The price is worth the quality of the materials but not the quality of the item itself, very disappointed.
I wanted to love this product as I really enjoy the creator and want to support them. Assembly was super easy, just make sure you have the long and short ends in the right spots and it takes all of a minute to put together. I have to second a few comments that the fit isn't very tight and as I went to move it, it came apart. It was put together correctly, I think just some of the assembled boxes have a tighter fit than others. I would have had to use twist ties to keep it together had I kept it. Unfortunately, my cats were totally disinterested after the initial excitement of something new. I put some treats in there (although a ball is included) and they sniffed around, tried for about a minute to get them, and then gave up, never to return. If the price point had been lower, I'd have kept it, but my cats are 12, very food motivated yet set in their ways, and it seemed like a waste. It is aesthetically very pleasing and looked nice in my home, but I couldn't justify keeping it when they weren't going to use it. Hopefully the fit is improved and other cats enjoy it! Lucky for me, mine don't mind nail trims that much, but had this worked out, I think it's a solid solution.
Love the idea. I set an alarm so I wouldn't miss the restock! However, I am disappointed. The pieces do not fit together snug at all. I had to ziptie the top to the sides (thanks to the idea from another review) but unfortunately there is no way to keep the sides attached to the bottom. So one move and my cat lifts it completely off.
My cats love it. At first I was worried it would be too easy since the similar cardboard puzzle boxes come with obstacles to put inside. But then I realized the sand paper actually makes it more difficult, plus if you add some toys, that's enough obstacle. One of my cats loves chasing the toys around it in, and the others are obsessed with the treats I put it. So it works well for all of them. The only problem is the pieces don't fit together with any friction to hold them in place. So my cats manage to pull it apart. I think I'll just tie a string around it unless I think of a better work around. I've seen a few other reviewers say it only comes apart if you don't put it together correctly, but I have the long tabs in the long slots on the bottom, and the short tabs in the short slots on the top. I don't see any other way to do it. It fits together flush, but all 8 tabs are loose in the slots. Maybe there's some variation in production such that some people get them with a tighter fit.
Immediately loved this. The girls could not wait for me to even put it together. It’s solid and excellent quality. Anyone who graduated kindergarten and can put together a puzzle can put this box together. Don’t let the negative reviews deter you they just can’t use their eyes and put the correct ends together. It’s not hard and took 30 seconds to assemble.
DANGEROUS!!! DO NOT BUY THIS!!! I initially loved it and was so happy with how well it seemed to work and how my cats started playing with it immediately but not even an hour in one of our cats got his head stuck through one of the big wholes and we couldn't get it out. It was really traumatic for the whole family hearing him cry out and scream while we tried to get him out but we ended up having to use our saw and physically cut him out of it. Which is not fun when you have a panicked cat's head just a few centimeters away. I'm just happy the only thing he lost was some fur. I will be contacting them privately to try and get a refund.
Cute box! I love that it has the lining on the entire interior, so wherever kitty scratches, the nails will get a bit of a buffing. It was a nice touch that a ball was included to give kitties something to fish for when not filled with treats. The box was easy to assemble. Be aware that each side piece has a long tab and a short tab. The long tabs fit into the bottom piece and the short tabs fit into the top piece. It took me a few minutes to realize I had one side upside down and that was why it wasn't fully connecting. A quick flip and all was secured. After a couple of uses, my adventurous kitty has mastered the fun of paw-fishing for treats. (My other kitty mostly just stares at me until I give her a treat by hand. No shade to the box. That's just her princess attitude.) So far, my cats have not managed to pull the lid off, but I can see how that might be a problem for more determined cats and those with thicker paws. I think a few small but strategically placed latches to hold it all together would be helpful. I can't speak yet to how well it files kitty's nails, but I can hear the scratching and if it manages to at least keep her little talons from being sharp fishhooks, I'll be quite pleased.

It seems like great enrichment for them and they enjoyed it straight out of the box. I will update this review after a few days to see if it helps with their claws but I have high hopes!
Before you let the negative reviews sway your purchase, those people probably have the pieces inserted upside down. I hope they realize their mistake and correct their rating and feedback. That being said, I think the box is well made, not as heavy as I thought it would be but neither of my food-motivated cats has lifted the lid or knocked it off and they don’t push/pull it around. The pieces fit securely in their (correct) spots. The box is also aesthetically pleasing, a nice change. I can’t speak to the nail filing yet but will update my review with the results.
We've only had it a few days but everyone is already using it! The cats are loving it, and I'm hopeful their nails will start to wear down. It's great quality, easy to put together, and as long as your dogs don't have access, it stays together well.
