Why do cats enjoy bags and covered spaces?
Many cats enjoy somewhere to hide, watch and pounce from. Paper also moves and rustles when touched. Preferences vary: give your cat a choice and never place them inside against their will.
Could I use an ordinary paper bag?
A suitable paper bag with handles removed can also be a play prop. CrinkleCove offers a dedicated double-layer kraft-paper hideout with a foldable shape and popcorn print. Inspect any bag for damage and remove staples, handles and loose attachments before use.
Why avoid plastic shopping bags?
Some cats chew and swallow plastic. Swallowed plastic or other non-food material can cause a digestive blockage, with possible warning signs such as vomiting, reduced appetite or pain. Bag handles can also catch around a cat. Keep plastic bags out of reach and contact your veterinarian promptly if you suspect something has been swallowed.
Is paper safe for my cat to swallow?
No. CrinkleCove is a hideout, not an edible or chew toy. It is unsuitable for cats who chew off and swallow paper. Stop use if that happens and speak with your veterinarian about persistent non-food eating.
Can I put an electronic toy inside the hideout?
Keep electronic toys on dry, flat flooring outside the opening, with clearance for their moving parts. Never cover a running toy, attach the toys together or route a string or cord through the hideout. Keep the exit open and supervise.
Are the butterfly and other toys included?
No. Each CrinkleCove unit is one paper hideout. FlutterBloom, PounceLoop and WhiskerQuest are optional play ideas sold separately. Only gifts shown in your selected offer are included.
How can I keep the setup interesting?
Try a different position or a different toy outside the opening, one change at a time. Allow catches and breaks. Let a cautious cat inspect the hideout quietly before adding movement.
Can more than one cat use it?
Give each cat room and a choice of places to retreat. Avoid crowding one entrance or drawing two cats into the same tight play area. For shared homes, separate play stations can make taking turns easier.
Is this an open-ended tunnel?
It is a bag-style paper hideout with one wide opening and a closed end. Place it on its side for hide-and-pounce play.
What is it made from?
Double-layer kraft paper with a printed outer surface and a rolled opening. There is no rigid tunnel frame.
Will every cat use it right away?
Cats have different preferences. Start in a familiar quiet spot, keep the opening clear and let your cat investigate without putting them inside.
Can it replace a scratching post?
No. Your cat may paw and scratch the paper during play, but keep a proper scratching post available. It is not a furniture-protection guarantee.
Is it washable?
No. Keep paper dry. Brush away loose debris and replace the hideout if it becomes wet, soiled or heavily damaged.
